Laoag City Ranks 2nd in Philippine Model Cities and Municipalities
The City of Laoag bagged home two major wins for placing second in the overall most livable city and champion in the disaster management in the awarding ceremony of the Philippine Model Cities and Municipalities on June 19.
The city has been recognized with its improved emergency response and rescue operations during disaster incidents and also, its aim to create sustainable and livable environment for the locals and visitors.
“This is another feather in the cap for Laoag City under the leadership of Mayor Chevylle Fariñas,” said City Information Officer Ramon Formantes.
Last year, Laoag City was shortlisted in the Safe Haven Category (peace and security and the Tourism Hub categories (business and leisure tourism spots and facilities).
Held at the Conrad Manila Hotel, the Philippine Model Cities and Municipalities comes with the theme “Making Cities More Inclusive” that establishes its goal of identifying outstanding cities and towns that developed better way of life in their communities.
Initiated by the Manila Times, the country’s longest-running publication, this forum-cum-awards is now on its second installment.
