Controversial Sharp-Shooting SPO1 Adonis Dumpit Killed in Bohol Drug Bust

Controversial Special Police Officer Adonis Dumpit was killed in an encounter with the National Bureau of Investigation Bohol (NBI) on Wednesday morning, June 27, 2018.

According to the spot report SPO1 Adonis Dumpit, an active police officer at Bohol Police Provincial Office allegedly fired when he was about to be apprehended by the operating team which resulted to a shootout and led to his instant death.

The drug bust, led by Atty. Renan Oliva in coordination with Tagbilaran City Police, occurred just a few blocks away from the house of SPO1 Adonis Dumpit in Purok 1, Dagohoy Road, San Isidro District, Tagbilaran City around 8:00 a.m. NBI Bohol tagged the police officer and former aide to Mayor Tomas Osmeña as a high-level target and drug protector.

Dumpit was assigned to the Bohol Police Regional Office for his last stint as a police officer before the mandatory retirement for police officers at the age of 56. Dumpit was 55 at the time of his death.

The controversial police officer was first assigned to Bohol on 2016 but was called back to serve in Cebu on the request of Councilor Dave Tumulak.

History of SPO1 Adonis Dumpit
The sharp-shooting police officer was the aide of Mayor Tomas Osmeña during his first stint as the Mayor of Cebu City.

After Osmeña’s term as Mayor, Adonis Dumpit charged and jailed for homicide by the Regional Trial Court in Cebu City for killing a 17-year-old suspected robber in Cebu City. Dumpit served a 6-year term in Leyte Regional Prison in Abuyog, Leyte before posting a bail of P250,000.

The police officer flew back to Cebu City in style as he retured to cebu via private airplane provided by Osmeña.

After a short stint of service in Cebu, Dumpit was reassigned to Bohol Police Regional Office. (GFB with additional reports from Aljun Cainghog)
