No Pinoys on Board San Francisco Jet Crash, Says Embassy
Philippine Embassy in Washington said Sunday that no Filipino has been reported aboard the ill-fated Asiana Airlines flight. In a post on its Twitter account, the embassy said most of the 291 passengers and 16 crew aboard the plane included Koreans, Chinese, and Americans.
“Asiana (said the flight’s) 291 passengers and 16 crew included 77 Koreans, 141 Chinese, 61 Americans and a Japanese. No information on passengers from (the) Philippines,” the Embassy said.
The embassy has said the Philippine consulate general has already sent two officers to the San Francisco airport to check if Filipinos were among the passengers.
Reports said that Asiana Airlines, for its part, posted on its Twitter and Google+ accounts its initial findings on the ill-fated flight OZ214. It said OZ214 departed Incheon International Airport on July 6, 2013 at 4:35 p.m. (Korea time) bound for San Francisco.
The accident occurred when OZ214 was making a landing on San Francisco International Airport’s runway 28.
‘2 Killed, dozens injured’
San Francisco Fire Chief has said that at least two people were killed and more than 100 others were injured Saturday when an Asiana Airlines Boeing 777 crashed upon landing at San Francisco International Airport.
Chief Joanne Hayes-White said in a press conference, that more than 60 other people who were aboard the jet are so far unaccounted for. The FBI has also said there was no indication the crash was the result of a terror attack.
Meanwhile, a family hotline has been set up for kin of the flight’s passengers, Voice of America (VOA) reported Sunday. Asiana Airlines Boeing 777 O214 flight carries more than 300 (291 passengers and 16 crew members) people on board crashed after a flight from Seoul and burst into flames.
Meanwhile, the San Francisco International Airport has reopened two runways. Asiana Authorities is still on investigation. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all the passengers, and flight crew on the flight. We hope to provide you with further info asap,” said Asiana.
