Baguio Schools Produce 3 LET Topnotchers

A working student is among the three topnotchers from Baguio City in the recent Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET).

Baguio boy Mardiño Miano Nuesca of the University of the Cordilleras ranked as Top 9 in the Elementary Level board exam with a rating of 86.80.

Nuesca said that his hardships as a working student paid off. He said that he did not expect to land in the Top 10 in the examinations since he was working and reviewing for the exam at the same time.

Another examinee, Arthur Cabico Soriano Jr., also of UC is ranked as No. 5 in the Secondary Level with a rating of 91.60.

UC College of Teacher Education Dean Dr. Ramir Austria said that the university is celebrating for having two graduates in the Top 10 of the licensure exams for teachers. He said this is the first time that the UC has topnochers in both the elementary and secondary level of the LET.

Meanwhile, University of Baguio graduate Florence Reyes Duldulao had a rating of 90.80 and took the Top 9 spot in the Secondary Level.

Meanwhile, Saint Louis University ranked as number four best performing school in the LET Secondary Level with a rating of 81.07 with 167 passers out of 206 takers.

The Professional Regulation Commission and the Board for Professional Teachers (BPT) announced that 13,774 elementary teachers out of 58,323 examinees (23.62%) and 22,936 secondary teachers out of 76,673 examinees (29.91%) successfully passed the LET given last March 25, 2018 in 20 testing centers all over the Philippines. It is further announced that of the 13,774 elementary teacher passers, 4,360 are first timers and 9,414 are repeaters. For the secondary teachers, 15,035 passers are first timers and 7,901 are repeaters.

The PRC said that registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will be from June 4 to June 11, 2018 for Elementary Level and June 14 to June 29, 2018 for Secondary Level.

The requirements for the issuance of Certificate of Registration and Professional Identification Card (ID) are the following: 1) Notice of Admission (for identification only); 2) downloaded duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal; 3) two pieces passport size pictures (colored with white background and complete nametag); 4) two sets of documentary stamps; 5) 1 piece short brown envelope.

The PRC reminds that successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals. The dates and venues for the oathtaking ceremonies of the new teachers will be announced later. (ALT/RMC- PIA CAR)
