Capitol to Shoulder Hospital Bills, Provide Aid to Quadruplets

Cebu Gov. Hilario P. Davide III assured that the Provincial Government will provide assistance to the newly-born quadruplets now confined at the neo-natal intensive care unit of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.

Kenneth Tongol, 33, the father of the quadruplets, met with the governor earlier today, May 4, to ask for assistance.

Davide, through Marivic Garces, head of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), assured Tongol that the Provincial Government will shoulder all the hospital bills.

The Capitol will also provide milk for the babies and food for the family. Tongol’s common-law wife, Irene Rodriguez, 30, has been declared in stable condition after delivering the quadruplets through Caesarean section last April 28.

Tongol is jobless, while Rodriguez works as a cashier of a convenient store in Poro town.

Since Rodriguez’s babies were born premature (they were born while the mother was still six months pregnant), they have to be placed in incubators at VSMMC.

The couple named the quadruplets, two boys and two girls, as Kendro and Kenshie and Isabelle and Izeah, respectively. Tongol was accompanied by Poro Councilor Emie Carcellar, who chairs the council committee on health, during his visit to the governor.

Carcellar, 30, who is a nurse by profession, had worked at the Ricardo L. Maningo Memorial Hospital in San Francisco, Camotes Island before he became a municipal councilor of Poro.
