PDRRMO Staff Represents Cebu in 2-Week Training in China
An employee of the Cebu Provincial Government is among the 20 Filipinos that is representing the country for this year’s seminar on Public Policy Management, which kicked off last week, in Hainan Province, China.
Rhee Telen II of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) joined the delegation from the Philippines who left for Hainan, China last week in time for the two-week seminar.
This seminar offers lectures on China’s national conditions, fundamental policies, the interpretation and analysis of fiscal-related public policy, principles and research methods of the public policy and its public policy in tourism.
The training seminar will end on May 2.
Telen, 24, shared his eagerness to be representing Cebu. He said he is excited to learn more on the importance of good public policy management in economics, finance and investment, tourism, and education in the field of DRRM and environmental protection.
The seminar, which is sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and organized by Commercial Training Center of Department of Commerce of Hainan Province, aims to promote traditional friendship between China and different countries, as well as to enhance and develop cooperation in the areas of economy and trade, human resources and economic society.
All throughout the two-week training, professors and scholars from the Department of Commerce of Hainan Province, Hainan University, and Hainan College of Economics and Business will be delivering a series of lectures, while trainees will undergo a combination of classroom teaching and fieldwork.
The trainees will be visiting several places in China, including Chengmai County, Wenchang City, Qionghai City, Wanning City, Sanya City, Xi’an, Xianyang and Shangluo in Shanxi Province.
The fieldwork aims to provide the trainees with a comprehensive understanding of modern China and a better grasp of what they have learned in order to handle relevant issues more effectively in future works, and to promote friendly cooperation between China and the Philippines.
During the opening ceremonies, officials from the Department of Commerce, Sisterhood Affairs, as well as the Economic and Development affairs, pointed out the importance of the seminar as a medium to communicate with the Philippines and to promote cooperation toward development between both countries.
The officials highlighted the importance of the seminar as it is a golden period of development for China and the Philippines.
