Cebu Provincial Traffic Management Focal Person Joy Tumulak urges motorists to observe traffic rules, as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 7 second engineering district will start the Mananga Bridge III rehabilitation project in Barangay Lawaan, Talisay City on April 27.

In a meeting on Tuesday with Leslie Anthony Molina, district engineer of Cebu 2nd District Engineering Office, Tumulak said that the public works office assured to complete the project within 70 days, with traffic plans being set up for the anticipated vehicle congestion in the area.

“Misaad ang taga DPWH nga humanon ang maong proyekto sulod sa 70 ka adlaw ug mo-trabaho ang mga personnel sa DPWH 24 oras,” said Tumulak.

Tumulak added that the DPWH plans to enforce full closure of the northbound lane of the bridge while the work is ongoing. With this, the DPWH can implement a scheme to ensure that traffic flow at the Cebu South Coastal Road (CSCR) will be unhampered, said Tumulak.

The DPWH traffic scheme includes opening the southbound lane of the bridge to a two-way traffic from 6 to 10 a.m. and 4 to 8 p.m.

According to Tumulak, traffic managers are also willing to extend assistance to DPWH in ensuring smooth traffic flow during the rehabilitation works. He added that they will not hesitate to apprehend vehicles illegally parked along the bridge. / Jethro Bacolod with reports from Joel Acedo
