Davide Commends CPPO Anti-Drug Operatives for a Job Well Done
Cebu Gov. Hilario P. Davide III led the distribution of cash rewards to the anti-narcotics operatives of the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) for their exemplary performance in the campaign against illegal drugs.
“Please be assured of the continuing support of Cebu Provincial Government to the Cebu Police Provincial Police Office lead by Senior Supt. (Edgar Alan) Okubo, as we are totally behind you in our campaign against illegal drugs,” said Davide.
Under the administration of Davide, peace and order is given utmost importance. Davide and Carmen Durano-Meca, head of the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Office, were the guests of honor of the CPPO flag raising ceremony yesterday, April 16.
After the ceremony, the governor and Okubo recognized the heroism displayed by slain operative PO2 Evie Espina of the Minglanilla Police Station, and two other police officers who got wounded while in the line of duty. They were PO1 Dennis Valiente of the Cordova Police Station and PO2 Aristeo Tampus of the San Fernando Police Station.
Espina was killed when drug suspect Jovilio Franza allegedly traded shots with them in a buy-bust in Minglanilla last Feb. 19. Valiente and Tampus were wounded in two other separate anti-illegal drug operations.
Meanwhile, Meca said that a total of P63,000 cash incentives were handed over to the eight police station commanders, which will be distributed to 77 operatives under their supervision. These eight police stations conducted a total of 21 police operations.
The eight performing police stations are Naga City Police Station, Balamban Police Station, Danao City Police Station, Pinamungajan Police Station, San Remegio Police Station, San Fernando Police Station, Samboan Police Station, and Ginatilan Police Station.
“The Provincial Government will not hesitate to reward you for doing exemplary work in the fight against illegal drugs,” Davide told the more than 100 CPPO personnel during the flag ceremony.
Maintaining peace and order is one of Davide’s 6-Key Development Agenda in keeping with the Provincial Government’s goal of inclusive growth, “Kalambuan sa Matag Sugbuanon.” The other five agenda are health and social services; countryside development; education and technical vocational training; environment protection; and infrastructure development, tourism and investment promotion.
