Rama Relieves Department Heads
Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama has finally decided to relieve City Veterinarian Alice Utlang and Fidel Magno, as head of the Department of Manpower Placement and Development (DMDP).
Utlang, head of the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries (DVMF), will be replaced by Dr. Pilar Romero and the report said that Utlang would be transferred to another department.
The mayor named Susan Ardoza as the new DMDP chief to replace the post to be vacated by Magno who will also be reassigned to other department.
Rama had also promoted Assistant City Administrator Dominic Diño to head the Human Resource Development Office (HRDO) to replace Atty. Evangeline Abatayo who sits as personnel chief in acting capacity because she is also the permanent civil registrar of the city.
Utlang, Magno and Abatayo were among those three City Hall department heads who walked out of the meeting called by the mayor after the latter asked their all-out support, including political matters, few days before the May 13 elections.
“Nahibaw-an na g’yud nga dili g’yud diay trabaho ang giapas ni Mayor Rama kon dili ang pamolitika,” Utlang said.
The three others that walked out from the meeting are Internal Control Office head Arlene Rentoza, City Treasurer Emma Villarete and City Legal Officer Jose Bernaldez. Bernaldez had already resigned from his post that prompted Rama to appoint Gerone Castillo as his replacement.
Rama also announced that he will avail the services of Kenneth Carmelita Enriquez as city engineer; Gloria Duterte as chief of the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC); Department of Public Services (DPS) chief Engr. Dionesio Gualiza; General Services Office (GSO) chief Engr. Rolando Ardosa; City Assessor Eustaquio Cesa; Budget Officer Nelfa Briones, Social Welfare Services chief Ester Concha and Public Information officer Florito “Carlo” Dugaduga.
Rama declined to announce who will be his city treasurer by saying “abangan.”
