AgSur-Born Designer Wins Manila FAME’s Editor’s Choice Award
Liza Maynagcot, owner of Liza’s Palm Strips Handicraft was Manila FAME’s Editor’s Choice Award 1st Series winner. Her winning products were designed by Gina Catuburan-Bagasbas, a native of Bunawan and now a member of Caraga’s pool of regional designers of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
The award, which was signed by Blair Villanueva, Chief Content Manager of the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) was given for “design that symbolizes an untouched beauty of a Filipina: classic and timeless. Each weave expresses strength, loyalty and being resilient – characters that make us more proud of our culture.“
Manila FAME, organized by CITEM is known as the “country’s premier design and lifestyle event.”
Maynagcot hails from the Municipality of Trento.
She was one of two producers from the province of Agusan del Sur to be featured in the Mindanao One Pavilion at the Manila FAME. The other producer was Anavilla Gam, sinamay producer from the Municipality of Sibagat.
Maynagcot is set to join DTI Agusan del Sur’s Trade Promotion Officer Corazon dela Pena for the Branding and Packaging Design Mentoring and Coaching of the Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of the Philippines or 4As after her stint at the Manila FAME.
