Nine Job Seekers Hired-On-The-Spot in Capitol’s Overseas Job Expo
Nine applicants were hired-on-the-spot after over 13,000 job vacancies from 27 registered recruitment agencies were opened during Cebu Provincial Capitol’s overseas job fair last October 15.
The Capitol’s career expo offered positions bound for Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Kuwait, Qatar, United Kingdom, Singapore and Japan.
In a statement, the Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) said that 1,309 job seekers flocked to the Capitol Social Hall with offered careers in construction, nursing, and food handling.
PESO is encouraging job seekers to participate in their job fairs, as the participating recruitment agencies are legitimate as verified by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
Elvira Relativo, 43, was among those who were successfully hired by a company based in United Arab Emirates (UAE). Her 22 years of experience as a beautician here in the country landed her a job in Qatar.
“Words can’t describe how happy I am. When I applied in another overseas job fair before, the recruiter told me that I qualify as a domestic helper and that I should grab the opportunity. But I don’t want my skills as a beautician go to waste,” Relativo said in Cebuano.
Relativo currently works as a beautician in a salon in Lahug, Cebu City. She also does home services during weekends, in order to meet her family’s financial needs.
This is the 5th job fair hosted by the Cebu Provincial Government this year.
PESO said that the next job fair will be on November 26 offering local job opportunities.
