Talisay Treasurer to Leave Post

Just weeks before the new Talisay City administration assumes office, City Treasurer Emma Macuto has expressed her intention to leave post.

Macuto said she would wait for the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) 7 for her to be transferred to another local government unit. Under the Local Government Code (R.A. 7610), BLGF has the appointing power of local treasurer and assistant treasurer.

Macuto’s intention came before Mayor-elect Johnny delos Reyes hinted that he wanted to replace Macuto once he sits as mayor for his lack of trust and confidence to the former, for being loyal to his opponent, first district Rep. Eduardo Gullas, an administration mayoral bet last May 13.

Delos Reyes wrote to BLGF 7 Director Carmelene Tugas asking for Macuto’s replacement.
