ITCZ to Bring Rains in Mindanao on Friday
Cloudy skies with rains is expected on Friday in most parts of Mindanao due to the presence of Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
PAGASA weather forecaster Shaira Nonot said the ITCZ affecting southern Mindanao, which is the thick clouds coming from the south of Asia, is considered a breeding ground for low-pressure areas (LPAs) or potential cyclones.
For Friday forecast, cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms will prevail over the provinces of Davao Oriental and Davao Del Sur and over the regions of SOCCSKSARGEN, ARMM and Zamboanga peninsula.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
Moderate to strong winds coming from the southwest will prevail over northern Luzon and the coastal waters along this area will be moderate to rough. Winds will be light to moderate coming from the south to southwest with slight to moderate seas.
The state weather bureau has not issued gale warning as the fisherfolks are safe to venture into the seas. (PNA) JMC/CLTC
