Poe, Duterte, Top Contenders for Presidency: Latest Magdalo Survey
Senator Grace Poe and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte are in a tight race for presidency, with ratings of 31 percent and 29.5 percent, respectively, according to the latest Magdalo survey conducted last March 2-4, 2016.
Congressman Francisco Ashley Acedillo, Magdalo party list representative, explained that the survey was conducted prior to the decision of the Supreme Court to allow Poe to run for president.
“This SC ruling would definitely give her bump in the next survey,” Acedillo further explained.
Following Poe and Duterte are Vice President Jejomar Binay with 21.5 percent, former DILG Secretary Mar Roxas with 14.3 percent, and Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago with 3.3 percent.
Meanwhile, still in a close vice presidential race, are Senator Chiz Escudero with 29.4 percent and Senator Bongbong Marcos with 28.7 percent. Congressman Leni Robredo dislodged Senator Alan Cayetano in third place, with 15.8 percent. Cayetano, whose rating dropped in almost all areas, got 11.4 percent, while closely trailing him is Senator Antonio Trillanes IV with 10.3 percent, followed by Senator Gringo Honasan with 3.8 percent.

The survey employed a multi-stage probability sampling design with almost 3000 respondents distributed across the different regions of the country, and has a margin of error of 1.8%.
