The Aboitiz Foundation, the social development arm of the Aboitiz Group, has forged partnership with the Center for Agriculture and Rural Development (CARD), Inc. to strengthen the implementation of its enterprise development program.

Aboitiz Foundation Chairman Erramon Aboitiz signed last February 24 a memorandum of agreement with CARD Chairman Jaime Aristotle Alip formalizing the partnership. Present also during the signing were Aboitiz Foundation President Susan Valdez, CARD President and Executive Director Elma Valenzuela, Aboitiz Foundation Trustee Rory Tolentino, Aboitiz Foundation Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Augusto Carpio III, and CARD Deputy Director for Corporate Communications Cleofe Figuracion.

Having the combined expertise of microfinance operations and community development, CARD is an ideal partner of the Aboitiz Foundation in its pursuit of helping more communities help themselves.

“We are aware that we can do much more if we create partnerships with other organizations that share the Foundation’s values. Our partnership with CARD will help us expand our enterprise development program, reaching out to more organized groups across the country and empowering more lives,” Aboitiz said.

“We are humbled to work with Aboitiz Foundation which has done great works in uplifting lives of many. With this partnership, we are sure that more people will benefit from our community programs which includes education, health and capacity building agenda,” Alip said.

He added that with CARD’s 29 years of experience in microfinance, they will expand the microfinance outreach with Aboitiz Foundation, ensuring that communities will become self-sustaining entrepreneurs, and therefore contribute to nation building.

The Aboitiz Foundation has been assisting small enterprising organizations across the country earn additional income by providing them with access to income-generating activities and livelihood opportunities.
It also provides assistance in the form of trainings and seminars to partner organizations to ensure that they gain the necessary skills in making their projects successful and sustainable.
