Joavan May Be Moved to CPDRC Today
The controversial son of Talisay City Mayor Socrates Fernandez, Joavan, is set to be moved anytime today at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center. That is, if he could not post bail for his latest case.
As of press time, Joavan, who spent a night at the Moalboal Police Station detention cell following his arrest yesterday morning, was brought to the Barili Municipal Trial Court in Cities for his commitment order before he will be brought to the CPDRC. This was shortly after he appeared at the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office for his inquest proceeding in relation to his illegal possession of firearms case (he was allegedly found carrying a .45 caliber gun when he was cornered by police yesterday).
Cebu Provincial Police Office Director Patrocinio Comendador said if Joavan could post bail for this latest case, at it is bailable, he will be transferred to the Maghaway Rehabilitation and Detention Center in Talisay City instead, to await trial for his illegal possession of explosives case. Talisay City police, who arrested him in May 7, found in his possession, apart from a .9mm caliber pistol, a hand grenade. Upon knowing that he could not post bail, Joavan escaped and had remained at large until yesterday morning. He was found in a resort in Barangay Saavedra, Moalboal town, reportedly on his way to Negros.
