How to Stretch Your Wardrobe Budget
It may be fun to shop for new clothes but it can also be a such a drain on your budget. Rather than sticking to the style you rocked before, there are easy ways to stretch your shopping budget – an affordable solution to stay fashionable this season.
Try a style swap – and save!
If you’re bored with your wardrobe already, chances are you have other friends feeling the same way. Instead of going on a shopping spree date, try a style swap instead. That way, nobody spends a single centavo but still, everybody walks away with fresh fashions. Pick a date, invite friends and have them bring their own pre-loved (and still wearable) items. Categorize the pieces to make things less of a frenzy. It’s a win-win situation for everyone!
Get creative with your closet’s contents
You might have a closet full of clothes that still fit, still on-trend but just you’ve forgotten about. Instead of buying new pieces, look for what you’ve missed out on wearing. Dig out pieces you’ve abandoned and see what you can do with them. Because you wouldn’t want to go over budget, get creative with what you already have. You never know what you might come up with.
Avoid impulsive buys
When you regularly give in to impulsive buys, your style budget disappears in an instant. It’s fun to be an impulsive buyer but they add up. Even the cheapest impulse purchases like costume jewelry and t-shirts can equal one good-quality item. Rather than going for poorly made pieces, save up for long-lasting styles. Use your wardrobe budget where it really counts because let’s face it, impulse buys are usually things you only wear once or forget about immediately. You might as well spend on well thought-out, well-fitting and well-made pieces.
Shop second hand
If you’re into cheap, on-trend items, the thrift store is the place to be. It’s an affordable place to buy basics when you need them. Browse through fashion magazines or store magazines to get a better idea of what you’re in search for. If you’re patient, you’ll surely find stylish items for much less.
