P4.8M Evacuation And Crisis Center Soon To Rise In Amlan
The local government unit of Amlan in Negros Oriental will soon have an evacuation and crisis center with the construction of a two-storey building funded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development through its Bottom-up Budgeting (BUB) process.
Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Corazon “Dinky” Soliman together with Amlan Mayor Bentham Dela Cruz recently headed the ground breaking event.
Soliman lauded the construction of the evacuation and crisis center as it will play a vital role in protecting the lives of the vulnerable citizens especially the women and children.
“We are happy with this new development for Amlan as this will help us strengthen our campaign to end violence against women and children (VAWC) and reduce the risks during disasters,” she said.
Mayor Dela Cruz for his part disclosed that the completion of the building with the support of the community will help in protecting the lives of the vulnerable citizens
“This project is the realization of our long dream to have a center that will house victims of VAWC,” he said.
The P4,842,950.58 building along Poblacion, Amlan Highway is slated to be completed middle this year. Of the total budget DSWD allotted P2 million for the construction of the said facility while the rest came from the Department of Interior and Local Government and the local government unit of Amlan.
