PBOC Announces Successful ER Transmission; Proclaims Winners for Cebu Province

Early Friday afternoon the Provincial Board of Canvassers (PBOC) officially declared a 100 percent successful transmission of election returns.

After the announcement, the board started the proclamation of the winners for the Governor, Vice-governor, Provincial board, and district representative seats from the different districts respectively.

Attorney Hilario Davide III won the gubernatorial race while his running mate Agnes Magpale took the vice- gubernatorial position and later proclaimed by the PBOC this afternoon.

Davide got 684,054 votes that made him won the race while his running mate, Magpale garnered 548,455 votes.

The newly elected governor said “Tourism is definitely part of our program. It is one of the industries nga nakapalambo jud sa Cebu. We will pursue the program sa tourism and maybe introduce sa mga modifications. We will have to consult to the tourism sector and to the vice governor Magpale kai she use to have the position of tourism sa provincial board.” Davide said.

Vice governor Agnes Magpale also added that “we will work together for a better. We will work transparency in the legislative department at the same time independent.”

The PBOC also proclaimed the champs for District Representatives. For the second district, Wilfredo Caminero from Liberal Party (LP), garnered 91,521 total number of votes. Gerard  “Samsam” Anthony Gullas, Jr., won for the first district, Benhur Salimbangon for the fourth district, and Joseph Felix Durano for the fifth district.

Vice Governor Agnes Magpale’s son, Miguel Magpale, also won a seat in the Sanggguniang Panlalawigan (SP) with 98,073 votes, the highest in the fifth district. Jude Durano Sybico garnered 96,369 votes.

Peter John Calderon got the highest count of votes, 90,968, that made him won the first seat of the SP for the second district. Dong Baricuatro seconded with 60,126 votes.

Raul Alcoseba got 78,554 votes while Julian “Teban” Daan garnered 177,791 votes for the first district.

Out of 51 cities and municipalities having 1,788,498 registered voters, only 1,446,144 of voters actually cast their votes during the automated election held last Monday.
