Bohol is a sweet, gorgeous and fabulous tropical haven that never ceases to amaze me. From its pristine powdery white-sand beaches to its lush chocolate-like mole hills and exotic wildlife, this haven of natural beauty has a wide array of blissful offerings, diversions and delights that could keep me entertained for days or even a month. While it’s not as internationally famous as Palawan or Boracay, I still think it’s a magnificent destination that you should visit at least once during your trip to the Philippines.
Despite being rocked by a devastating 7.2 magnitude earthquake, Bohol has surprisingly retained its majestic natural beauty as well as some of its elegant heritage sites. And as far as I’m concerned, Bohol has so many interesting treasures and wonders that it would be impossible to explore all of them in a week.
But, if you are a super busy person like me, you can still experience a wondrous and unforgettable getaway in Bohol in 48 hours or less. Trust me, a two-day break in Bohol is enough for anyone to fall in love with this magical and heavenly place.

- Buy your souvenirs and Bohol delicacies at BQ mall. It’s much cheaper than buying them at the touristy places and the small stalls at Tagbilaran Port.
- We stayed at Alona Bamboo House. It’s cozy, clean, affordable and best of all, just a few minutes away from the beach.
- For the countryside tour, it’s best that you book your tour at Tickets to Ride. They offer great travel package deals to Bohol, and they also allow their clients to customize their trip. You can rent a bike (habal-habal) too, and explore Bohol on your own, but it’s better, safer and more convenient to take the Bohol travel package from a tour operator.
- There are fast craft vessels that travel to and from Cebu almost every hour. If, however, you’re on a tight budget, I suggest that you take a boat trip. While they are slower, the tickets for these boat trips are approximately 50 percent cheaper than those of the fast craft vessels.
