Kick Off of the FOODISH Food Festival

Published

November 13, 2015 will be a memorable day. Aside from being a Friday the 13th, it will be a day where Cebu will witness the start of an upscale weekend food festival. Happening at the Linear Park across Ayala Center Cebu and Marriott Hotel, beside the City Sports Club, this event will be Cebu’s own version of the very successful weekend food bazaars in Manila, examples of which are the Mercato and Salcedo Village. Although there were/are already a few weekend food bazaars in Cebu, what will set this event apart is the emphasis on its objective of being an upscale bazaar. This means attention is given on the ambience and details which is outdoor casual dining. This further means dining under transparent tents to appreciate the skies, surrounded by lighted trees and bunting lights, and serenaded by soft, chill, acoustic music. This, plus a whole lot more, is what will elevate the bazaar into a food festival like no other.

As to the merchants and food stalls of this event, FOODISH FOOD FESTIVAL is proud of those that are taking part. In FOODISH, one can see a strip of tent housing International Cuisine, and choose from an array of authentic Indian, Singaporean, Thai, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Italian, and Malay food. Then in other parts, one can find Cebu’s homegrown brands selling, among others, lechon, BBQ, burger, sandwiches, chicken, pasalubong items. Also present are selected dry goods for those who would like to shop for unique items before, during, or after the dining experience.

“We are very excited about this event. We believe it is an idea whose time has come” says Franco Alvarez , FOODISH’s Marketing Director.

“We are committed in bringing to Cebu an event like no other. An event which will grow in time, in excellence, uniqueness, and size. We hope to invite not only local and international food merchants of Cebu but in other cities as well, such as Davao, Manila, Cagayan, or perhaps the nearby islands such as Bohol, Iloilo and Dumaguete.”

The FOODISH FOOD FESTIVAL is slated to be a year-long, or more, event. In one of its execution, it hopes to have special themed months, like perhaps a Korean Foodish Food Festival, or a Thai Foodish Experience. Indeed, anything related to food and outdoor eating, the FOODISH FOOD FESTIVAL will be the best place for everybody, because in FOODISH, food is in the spotlight.

FOODISH FOOD FESTIVAL will open from 6pm to 2am during Friday and Saturdays, and 10 am to 4 pm during Sundays (after the mass in the venue). However, during December, the Foodish will run every day from Dec 1 to 31 at 4:00 pm to 12mn.

This event is presented by Choobi Choobi lingaw lingaw kaon, and presented by Sun Valley cooking oil, the official cooking oil of Foodish. This event is also sponsored by Pepsi, San Miguel Corporation, Nature’s Spring, Flame It, and Mr. Humba. This event also supports the I CAN SERVE Foundation. For inquiries, call or text 09055594378.
