U.P. Pride Week Cebu

The UP Pride Week is an annual event that celebrates everyone’s diversity, regardless of gender.

The theme for UP Pride Week Cebu 2015 is “Celebrate (Y)our Story.” We believe that behind every person is a unique story woven together by different backgrounds and experiences, and that every person deserves recognition as a human being. These stories are also bound together by our story as a society, underscored by the struggle for a society free from discrimination.

UP Pride Week – Cebu is spearheaded by UP PRIDE Cebu, convened by UP Cebu Student Council Gender Committee Head John Isaac Saguit. Assisting with the organization are various volunteers from the UP Cebu student body, as well as outside partners.

Its mission is to stand up for the cause of LGBT rights by helping spread awareness and open-mindedness to the UP Cebu community, as well as the Cebu community and society at large, on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity / Expression (SOGIE) and the struggle of our LGBTQI brothers and sisters who face daily discrimination in our society.

Here are the list of activities for the first ever U.P. Pride week Cebu.

September 21, Monday – Grand Opening at 12:00 noon, AS parking Lot.

September 22, Tuesday – Human Rights Forum at 1:00 pm, AS lobby in partnership with UPPSS.

September 23, Wednesday – Movie Screening at 4:00pm, Handuraw events Café in partnership with U.P. Ligaya.

Bundak.Balak. Pride at 7:00pm, Handuraw Events Café in partnership with U.P. Tinta.

September 24, Thursday – Pride Performances at 12:00 noon, Oblation Square in partnership with Upstage, Sayaw- E and U.P.Serenata.

It’s Okay To Be Gay & Sogie Workshop at 1:00pm, 1pm AS Lobby in partnership with UPpsyma.
