Such was the case in the Abellana National High School where said voters had to be assisted when they cast their votes.

Leon G. Flores III, undersecretary chairman and chief executive officer for PWDs said that voters with disabilities should be given a special lane during elections so that they will be comfortable when voting.

Flores also said that he proposed the observance of a resolution to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) but got no feedback from the office. Flores referred to COMELEC Resolution No. 9485 which provides for the Establishment of Accessible Polling Precincts for Persons with Disabilities.

According to Flores, said resolution is a substantial aid to PWDs which will provide them an exclusive clustered precinct which will be located at the ground floor of every polling centers.

Currently, the PWDs can get inside the precincts without lining up but in some cases, they must climb up to some precincts located in upper floors.

“For now, we really need to assist them up and down the stairs,” Flores added.
