DSWD7 Celebrates Panaghiusa Festival

To strengthen the implementation and to intensify the advocacy of its various programs and services for the poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged using the convergence strategy, the the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VII will celebrate first Panaghiusa Festival this August 12-13, 2015 at SM City-Cebu Tradehall.

“Panaghiusa Festival is a convergence of DSWD programs and services created to increase public awareness and highlight the agency’s accomplishments and gains,” said Mercedita P. Jabagat, DSWD regional director.

“The festival aims to showcase the positive impact of DSWD programs and services in the lives of our partner-beneficiaries through their success stories and their livelihood products that will be displayed during the two-day event,” she added.

Jabagat stressed that as the lead agency in social protection, DSWD intensifies the convergence strategy to harmonize the implementation of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Coordinated Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS), Supplementary Feeding Program, Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens among others.

The first day of the event will feature a mass at the regional office that will be followed by a parade to SM City-Cebu.

After the parade Trade Exhibit by SLP Beneficiaries, Photo Gallery and Information Booth from various DSWD’s programs & services will be opened for the general public.

Kaya Ko ang Pagbabago Presentations from various schools in Metro Cebu showcasing the DSWD’s programs and services through dance, act and song performances and Quiz Bee will also be showcased on August 12.

In August 13 . Director Jabagat will deliver the State of the Region Address that will be followed by the Regional Awarding of the winners of the Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya Regional and Listahanan Photocontest. (Phoebe Jen Indino-Pantawid Pamilya Information Officer)
