Trips of Small Vessels in Negros bound for Iloilo, Cebu Cancelled due to Gale Warning
Bacolod City (PNA) — Trips of all small vessels in Negros Occidental bound for Iloilo and Cebu were suspended Thursday following the gale warning issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Lieutenant Commander Ramil Palabrica, chief of Philippine Coast Guard-Bacolod, said they cancelled trips for small vessels and motorized boats below 250 gross tonnage starting 6 a.m.
Affected were fast crafts bound for Iloilo City and small vessels plying various ports in the province, including those with trips from San Carlos City to Toledo, Cebu; Escalante City to Tabuelan, Cebu; and Cadiz City to Bantayan Island, Cebu.
Palabrica, however, said that roll-on, roll-off vessels bound for Iloilo were still allowed to travel thus, no passenger was stranded at the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. (BREDCO) port here.
He said the suspension of trips will continue until PAGASA lifts the gale warning.
Fishing boats and other small seacrafts were also advised not to venture out to the sea, Palabrica said. (PNA) LAP/NLG/MPE
