Secretary Roxas Awards SGLG to 8 Cebu Mayors

Department of Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Secretary Mar Roxas Tuesday awarded the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) to eight mayors in Cebu.

Each of the local government unit (LGU) awarded with the SGLG received P3 million for projects in their localities.

The Cebu provincial government was also awarded the SGLG with a cash prize of P7 million.

Of the eight local mayors who received SGLG awards, three are Liberal Party (LP) members.

They are Argao Mayor Edcel Galleos, Dalaguete Mayor Ronald Allan Cesante and San Remigio Mayor Mariano Martinez.

The non-LP mayors are Nelson Garcia of Dumanjug, Ian Escario of Bantayan, Ricardo Ramirez of Medellin, Ronald Guaren of Oslob and Narciso Creus of Malabuyoc.

They belong to One Cebu Party.

But it was Acting Dumanjug Mayor Efren Guntrano Gica who received the ward because Mayor Garcia was serving a six-month suspension.

“Whoever practices good local governance gets the award,” Roxas said.

The mayors each received a large replica of a check for PHP3 million that will be used to fund projects in their localities. (PNA) FFC/EB/PJN
