PAF Plans to Develop further Cebu Air Facilities
(PNA) — As more and more aircraft become available for the Philippine Air Force (PAF), plans are now underway to further develop its air facilities in Cebu, according to PAF chief Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Delgado.
He said this is possible as the Benito Ebuen Air Base, which is located in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, is very strategic as aircraft base in the facility can access and support operations in the western, southern and northern parts of the country.
Incidentally, the PAF will celebrate its 68th founding anniversary at the former Clark Air Base in Pampanga this coming July 1.
This year’s guest of honor and speaker is President Benigno S. Aquino III.
“We intend to put up more hangars for our fighter aircraft in the future and our transport aircraft, and helicopter hangars (in our Cebu air facilities) due to its strategic location,” the PAF chief said.
Delgado said that this type of planning is needed as the PAF intends to base more aircraft in its Benito Ebuen Air Base once procurement of its modern aircraft goes into high gear.
It also hosts the PAF’s 2nd Air Division.
The PAF is scheduled to receive two additional C-295 medium transport aircraft before the end of 2017 and two brand-new F/A-50s along with eight attack AW-109s helicopters and eight Bell 412 combat utility helicopters before the end of the year. (PNA) SCS/PFN
