Inter-Department Service Showcase Independence Day Exhibit Kicks Off
(Cebu City PIO) — Clients who will transact to the Cebu City Hall this week will now have the chance to witness and discover what the different Departments of the City Government of Cebu has been doing.
This as the city government here led by Mayor Michael L Rama holds an “Inter-department Service Showcase Independence Day Exhibit” from June 8-12, 2015 at the lobby of the Legislative Building in Cebu City Hall.
The exhibit which featured the services, programs and projects of the 22 departments of the city kicked off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday morning June 8 which was led by Mayor Rama and Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella together with the city’s Department Heads.
Meanwhile, the exhibit which is spearheaded by the City Planning and Development Office is the second official activity in line with the city’s celebration of the 117th Philippine Independence Day this year. The first was the Independence Day Solidarity Run Part 1 held last June 6.
Bearing the theme, “Kalayaan 2015: Tagumpay sa Pagbabagong Nasimulan, Abot Kamay na ng Bayan,” the city has lined-up various activities for this year’s grand Independence Day celebration.
Other lined-up activities included the Independence Day Concert at the Senior Citizen’s Park on June 11, and on the big day June 12 will be the Independence Day Solidarity Run Part 2 at the North Reclamation Area at 4AM, Eucharistic Celebration and Flag-raising Ceremony at the Plaza Sugbo at 7AM, Kalayaan Local and Overseas Jobs Fair at the Cebu City Sports Center at 8AM to 5PM, Grand Civic Military Parade from in front of Cebu Provincial Capitol to the Plaza Independencia at 1PM, and the “Bayle sa Sugbo” with Fireworks Display in the evening also at the Plaza Independencia.
The grand celebration will be observed as a regular holiday throughout the country by virtue of the Proclamation No. 831 signed by President Benigno Aquino III who invited Mayor Rama to join him in the official national government celebration of the Independence Day at Santa Barbara Plaza in Iloilo City on June 12.
Furthermore, in his phone patch press conference with the city hall beat media yesterday, Mayor Rama who was in Manila declined the invitation and opted to personally attend the Independence Day lined-up activities in this Queen City of the Philippines. (Cebu City Public Information Office PIO)
