Candice Gotianuy: New Norwegian Consul in Cebu

Represented by the Ambassador of Norway, Mr. Knut Solem, the Royal Norwegian Consulate in Cebu formally appoints Miss Candice Gotianuy as Honorary Norwegian Consul in Cebu for the provinces of Cebu and Negros Oriental.

“Oh wow! I can dye my hair blonde,” kids Miss Gotianuy in her acceptance speech. Her appointment will further strengthen the Philippines’ mutual relationship with Norway. Being the incumbent Chancellor of the University of Cebu and concurrently holding an executive function at the Cebu Technical School, a technical-vocational school, it would not be difficult for her to develop the bilateral relations between the two countries specifically in the academe and business sectors.

To start off, Norwegian shipping principals are currently financing the education of 1,000 Maritime students in the University of Cebu. This extraordinary scholarship program includes sending the students for apprenticeship during their 3rd year on-board a shipping vessel owned by Norwegian companies.

Not only will the Consulate in Cebu provide assistance to the Norwegian nationals, but they will also provide information useful for trips to Norway, Philippine-Norwegian business opportunities and support in the processing consular requirements, such as passports, visa, and maritime certificates.

As she assumes office, Miss Gotianuy is as enthusiastic to start her campaign to promote Norway here in the region. And everyone, her colleagues, friends and family are wishing her the best in the next chapter of her life as the newly appointed Honorary Norwegian Consul in Cebu.
