“We Want Every Cebuano to be Healthy”: Gov. Davide

Gov. Hilario P. Davide III expressed his 100% support to the High Impact 5 (HI5) Summit of the Dept. of Health (DOH). This was at the launch of HI5 summit at the Provincial Capitol on June 8.

“We want every Cebuano to be healthy,” the governor said as a stakeholder’s response to the summit.

He also divulged that he earlier talked with DOH 7 Regional Director Jaime S. Bernadas for a possible collaboration with VSMMC where doctors from district hospitals will be brought to VSMMC for training and VSMMC will in turn send its doctors to the district hospitals to assist and help in the delivery of health services.

DOH Asst. Secretary Gerardo V. Bayugo, the keynote speaker, said that the summit was held to “put excitement” to the delivery of health services especially in the areas of Maternal Mortality, Infant Mortality, Under-five Mortality, HIV and AIDS, and Service Delivery Networks as part of the Aquino Administration’s thrust in Kalahatang Pangkalusugan (universal health care).

This is to ensure that the program will not “just fade away” before the Aquino Administration bows out in more or less 13 months.

Represented in the summit were the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Dept. of Education and Provincial Office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

Giving their response as stakeholders were Tuburan Mayor and President of the League of Municipalities – Cebu Chapter Aljun Diamante, Bogo City Vice Mayor and President of the League of Vice Mayors – Cebu Chapter Santiago Sevilla, and the presidents of the Municipal Health Officers, the Integrated Midwives’ Association of the Philippines – Cebu Chapter and the BHW Association of Cebu Inc.
