2 Moderate Quake Jolts Surigao del Sur; Zambales

(PNA) — Two moderate quake rocked the provinces of Surigao del Sur and Zamabeles on Wednesday morning, according to Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

In its bulletin, Phivolcs said that the first quake with magnitude 3.3 occurred at 1:12 a.m. with its epicenter traced 119 kilometers southwest of Palauig town in Zambales.

The tremblor, which was tectonic in origin, has a shallow depth of 33 kilometers.

The second quake happened around 2:22 a.m., with a magnitude 3.5 jolted Surigao del Sur. Its epicenter was located northwest of Bislig, about 55 km and tremor had a depth of nine kms.

The agency said that Intensity 1 felt in Bislig town.

Phivolcs said that the two earthquakes were tectonic in origin.

No damages or casualties were reported and aftershocks are not expected as well. (PNA) LGI/CLTC
