Magnitude 4.0 Quake Jolts Surigao del Norte

A magnitude 4.0 earthquake struck the province of Surigao del Norte on Wednesday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor occurred at 5:05 a.m. with the epicenter traced at 85 kilometers northeast of General Luna town in Surigao del Norte.

The tremor, which was tectonic in origin, had a shallow depth of 26 kilometers.

Phivolcs said there was no casualty or damage reported from the temblor and no aftershocks were expected from it. (PNA) LGI/CLTC
