Puerto Princesa City (PNA) — The City Tourism Department (CTD) here is thrilled to welcome Friday morning the Philippine Airlines’ (PAL) maiden flight that would bring an estimated 168 tourists from Taipei, the capital center of Taiwan.

City Information Officer Henry Gadiano told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) Thursday that the maiden flight is expected to land an estimated 168 tourists from Taipei City Friday morning as a result of Mayor Lucilo Bayron and the Puerto Princesa government’s active coordination with Taiwan through the Manila Economic Cooperative Office (MECO).

“The CTD is now in the thick of preparation for the arrival of the PAL maiden flight tomorrow, which will bring tourists from Taipei, who want to see the wonders of the Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR) and other interesting sites in the city,” Gadiano said.

Aside from the city, Gadiano assumed that the visitors would also be making a trip to see El Nido in northern Palawan since they will be staying for three days, and will go back on the same national flag carrier flight on Tuesday next week.

He clarified that the maiden flight is actually “chartered,” and is “a hope” that more similar voyages from Taiwan will follow.

“The flight is chartered, and will not accommodate Palaweños, who want to go to Taipei. Hopefully, this maiden chartered flight will become regular,” Gadiano stated to the PNA.

Tourism department head Aileen Amurao, he furthered, will be at the Puerto Princesa City International Airport (PPCIA) to personally welcome the arrival of the Taipei visitors, and thank them in advance if they can spread the word to other Taiwan residents about the flourishing tourism industry in the city.

Bayron is positive that with the support of Puerto Princesa’s friends from Taipei, Taiwan, more will be interested to come and visit, and help in the local tourism economy. (PNA) LAP/CARF/RSM
