48,000 Runners Eyed in PhilHealth’s Anniversary Run

AT LEAST 48,000 runners are expected to join the second nationwide simultaneous run organized by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation which will take place on February 15, 2015 in 13 regions all over the country.

Dubbed PhilHealth: Ready, TSeKaP Go!, the said run for a cause is one of the highlights of PhilHealth’s 20th anniversary with the theme “Ensuring Universal Coverage for All Filipinos.”

Alexander A. Padilla, PhilHealth’s President and CEO said that “this event has drawn inspiration from the success of our 2013 PhilHealth Run, and aims to intensify awareness of PhilHealth services and benefits among the Filipino people”. He added that “we were able to meet our target in 2013 and hopefully, with everybody’s support we would be able to meet or even surpass our target number of runners for this year.”

The Quezon City leg which will be held in Quezon Memorial Circle targets around 8,000 runners, while the remaining 40,000 target is distributed among the key cities of Baguio, Dagupan, Tuguegarao, Naga, Lipa, Lucena, Iloilo, Cebu, Tacloban, Davao and Koronadal and Subic.

Proceeds from registration fees and sponsorships will benefit at least 13 local institutions primarily catering to the vulnerable sectors of society.

The running event is open to all Filipinos and even to non-Filipinos who are in good health condition. They can register in any of the categories, namely, 3K, 5K, 10K, or 20K. Runners may download the registration forms from run2015.philhealth.gov.ph, submit the forms to and pay their registration fees at the PhilHealth regional and local health insurance offices corresponding to their preferred run site. Those who wish to join the Quezon City and Iloilo City editions may register online through run2015.philhealth.gov.ph.
