(PNA) — Three Filipino crewmen of a Greek oil tanker were injured in an airstrike Sunday on the vessel they are manning in Derna, Libya, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday.

“One of them is currently in ICU (intensive care unit) while the other two sustained minor injuries,” Foreign Affairs spokesman Charles Jose said in a statement.

Jose said the Philippine government is coordinating with the victims’ relatives to inform them of the incident and to extend the necessary assistance.

Libya is placed under Alert Level 4 by Manila due to volatile security situation. Under this security warning, all Filipinos there are asked to leave and join the ongoing free evacuation being offered by the Philippine government.

“The DFA appeals to all Filipino nationals there to take extra precaution and to avail of the Philippine government’s repatriation program,” Jose said. (PNA) LAM/MDC/SSC
