Christmas is Merrier for Some Policemen
The Cebu Provincial Government, through the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Commission (CPADAC), has awarded monetary incentives to police officers from the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) and to Balamban Police Officers for their exemplary work in the crusade against illegal drugs.
Governor Hilario P. Davide, with Provincial Board (PB) Member Carmen Remedious Durano-Meca, headed the awarding ceremony last December 22 at the Cebu Provincial Police Office Ground. Provincial Director Police Senior Supt. Noel Angeles Gillamac and Deputy Provincial Director for Administration Police Supt. Renato E. Malazarte were the representatives from CPPO during the activity.
Seventeen police officers with team leader Police Chief Inspector Richard M. Oliver from Balamban Police Station successfully conducted two operations at Sitio Mayana, Barangay Gaas and Barangay Sta. Cruz-Sto. Niňo, both in Balamban, Cebu.
On the other hand, 34 police officers with their team leader Police Supt. Rodolfo C. Alborta Jr from PIB conducted four operations at Barangay Tangke in Talisay City, Barangay Poog in Toledo City and Barangay Catarman in Liloan town.
Each police officer received Php 5,000, while team leaders received Php 10,000.
The Cebu Provincial Government is serious in its fight against illegal drug activities in Cebu.
When asked about the impact of giving out incentives, Davide said it will serve as encouragement for the police officers whose work is always at risk.
“The province is solidly behind our police efforts,” he added.
In the same activity, police personnel had their service firearms sealed for the holidays to make sure they do not celebrate it by firing their weapons. Davide and PB member Carmen Durano-Meca spearheaded the sealing of the muzzle.
