Seniang Now a Tropical Storm, Makes Landfall Over Surigao del Sur-PAGASA

State weather agency said tropical depression Seniang has intensified into a tropical storm and will hit land over Hinatuan Surigao del Sur at 3:45 a.m. Monday.

PAGASA added that at 4 a.m., TS Seniang was in the vicinity Hinatuan, with maximum winds of 65 kph near the center, and gusts of up to 80 kph. It had a rainfall amount of 15 to 30 mm per hour (heavy to intense) within its 300-km diameter, it added.

Senaing was moving west-northwest at 11 kph, and was expected to exit the Agusan del Norte land mass of by noon, after which it will cross the Bohol Sea.

Public Storm Signal Number 2 was up over:

Bohol,
Siquijor,
Surigao del Sur,
Surigao del Norte,
Siargao Island,
Agusan del Norte,
Agusan del Sur,
Misamis Oriental, and
Camiguin.

Storm Signal No. 1 was up over:

Leyte,
Southern Leyte,
Camotes Island,
Cebu,
Negros Oriental,
Negros Occidental,
Dinagat Province,
Compostela Valley,
the northern part of Davao Oriental,
Davao del Norte,
Bukidnon,
Lanao del Norte,
Misamis Occidental, and
Zamboanga del Norte.

Floods and Landslides

PAGASA warned of flash floods and landslides in low lying and mountainous areas under either Signal 2 or Signal 1, especially in the Caraga Region, the Eastern Visayas, and the rest of Mindanao.

Small sea craft were also warned against sailing over the eastern seaboards of Luzon, the seaboards of the Visayas, and over the northern and eastern seaboards of Mindanao as ocean waves could be up to five meters high, report said.
