Boholanos Received an Early Christmas Gift from CCCI

As an early Christmas gift to Boholanos, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) turned over a total of thirty-five sets of portable solar light kits to four beneficiary groups of micro-entrepreneurs in the province of Bohol last November 21-22, 2014.

Three sets of solar kits were given to the Mantacida United Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MUFAMPUCO) in Catigbian, Bohol. The group is engaged in meat processing, crops and livestock production, rice milling as well as membership savings and lending operations.

The Taming Loom weavers Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Danao, Bohol also received ten sets of solar kits which can be used by its twenty five members.  The cooperative is engaged in the production of loom woven products such as raffia place-mats, rolls, coasters and table runners.

Furthermore, the Cabilao Romblon Weavers Network (CROWN) in Loon, Bohol which is composed of 45 women engaged in the production of romblon bags also received twelve sets of solar kits.

Another ten sets of solar kits were turned over to the Tubigon Loom weavers Multi-Purpose Cooperative. The group is composed of 104 permanent and contractual workers and a total of 200 support workers (knotters, strippers, sewers and beaders) which are all women.

One set of portable solar light kit is composed of 1 pc. 20watts solar panel, 1 power unit with high capacity battery, 2 pcs. 3watts DC bulb and 1 pc. USB cellphone charging cable. The solar kits are really a big help to the weavers as it can enable them to continue working during night time even if there will be brownouts or blackouts.

These undertakings are all part of the livelihood rehabilitation program of the Bangon SugBohol Movement in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry Bohol Province.
