Pres. Aquino to Ask Pope Francis: Spare PHL from Disasters

President Benigno Aquino III is set to ask Pope Francis for prayer that would “spare Filipinos from the ravages” of natural disasters.

The President is scheduled to meet the Roman Catholic Church leader next month.

Aquino said he would seek the Pope’s blessing not for himself, but for the entire Philippines.

The President said the country are frequently visited by so many strong typhoons, that come at “very unseasonal moments.”

Aquino said he will request Pope Francis to pray for the Philippines’ “ability to stop the cycle of destruction and reconstruction.”

Pope Francis will visit the country on January 16 to attend a five-day activity of the Roman Catholic Church.
