Fifteen operational staff of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc.–Kool Adventure Camp (RAFI – KAC) went through a four-day land expedition in Mount Talinis, the second highest peak in Negros Oriental, last October 28 to 31.

The expedition training aimed to address competency gaps, which included land expedition management, navigation skills using the Map and compass, first Aid and wilderness first response evacuation scenarios, leave no trace practitioners certification, and local ecology and biodiversity familiarization.

The four-day land expedition started from the Overlooking Ridge to Lake Yagumyum. The team then proceeded to Halawig Ridge, Nailig Junction, Lake Nailig, Kaipuha Sulfur Vents, Ranchohan, Valencia Exit, and finally to Liptong Woodlands.

The participants were Audrey Criscille Abatol, Edvan Loh, Marie Sol Gonzalvo, Landolf Villanueva, Richard de los Reyes, Gabriel Lamparas, Kenneth Lim, Daphne Dia, Jay Alera, Aldin Atega, Kristy Ann Diaz, Niña Klaire Credo, Dea Devaras, Jehzial Mainit and Leomil Urpiana.

RAFI-KAC has been offering adventure education programs for leadership and team development for youth and professionals for the last decade. It has recently opened the Philippines’ first fully dedicated adventure education center last August 2014.
