Festival Masks Stamps Out on November 22 – PHLPost

The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) will launch the colorful “Philippine Festival Masks” commemorative stamps on November 22, in time for the celebration of the famous Higantes Festival in Angono, Rizal.

According to PHLPost, included in the commemorative stamps are four of the world’s famous festivals: The Moriones Festival of Marinduque; Higantes Festival of Angono in Rizal; Pintados Festival of Tacloban City; and Masskara Festival of Bacolod City.

Some 120,000 copies of the mask festivals stamps are printed and sold at P10 each. The stamps were also produced in tactile printing technology that allows a person to touch and feel the actual texture embellished in the stamps.

Likewise, around 5,000 pieces of the special limited edition souvenir sheets of the Philippine Festival Masks stamps designed by Antonio M. Carranza Jr. were printed in tactile embedded with diamond powder to appreciate the look and feel of the colorful Masskara Festival Stamps, and being sold at P100 each.

The Moriones Festival Mask stamps, designed by PHLPost in-house layout artist Jose Antonio Jayme, feature a mask of a biblical Roman soldier as interpreted by local folks.

While the body of the traditional higantes (giants) which are made of bamboo and colorful cloth and a face made of paper mache is depicted in the “Higantes Festival Mask Stamps” designed by Nemesio Miranda.
