John Yre: Requirements in Place for New Tabunok Market
Talisay City administrator John Yre delos Reyes this morning wished Talisay City Vice Mayor Romeo Villarante will undoubtedly push for the approval of a resolution endorsing the construction of the P350 million new Tabunok public market building.
This after all the requirements asked by the Talisay City council for the construction of said project were submitted to the legislators, delos Reyes said.
Earlier, Talisay Vice Mayor Romeo Villarante attributed the absence of a feasibility study, as the cause of their failure to consider the approval of a resolution during their last session.
City administrator delos Reyes said that immediately following Villarante’s refusal to sign the resolution for the construction of a modern Tabunok public market, he immediately made move to address the problem.
Talisay City Mayor Johnny delos Reyes (JVR) told his idea to build a new Tabunok market, patterned at the public market in Naga City, in Luzon.
The educational tour earlier conducted by the Talisay local government unit (LGU) officials in Naga City, has contributed much to the realization of a monumental project soon to mount at the Tabunok public market area.
Delos Reyes said because of the incoming Christmas season, he wants all Tabunok vendors to avail the influx of customers. So instead of immediately building the project, he decided to extend it to January next year.
However, the city chief executive said he is aware that some politicians in Talisay are trying to insinuate Tabunok vendors not to allow the realization of the said project.
“Naa kunoy karaang politiko ang nanghadlok sa mga vendor nga kun matukod na ang bag-ong merkado sila maoy akong pabayron sa tanang magasto niini”, JVR said.
“This is not a people’s project but this is an apparent administrations’ project,” so there is no reason why I should pass my responsibility to the other persons'”, he added.
He said the three storey building’s design is already prepared. Its groundfloor will be for big business establishments such as commercial banks, fast foods, pharmacy and others, while the second floor is for vendors to display their wares, while the third floor will serve as a parking area.
JVR said that anybody from the council who will go against the construction of the said market will be answerable to the people who really need it. He added that once the market building construction is already in place, he will start the earth moving operations at the Mananga river exit in barangay Dumlog where a waterway project is set to exist.
JVR, who is an inventor by profession, said he will make the area a tourist attraction. He will invite investors to construct tourist houses, and all kinds of attraction that will make the area fully enjoyable to stay for both local and foreign tourists.
The mayor is also eyeing a bridge that will link between the market building and the other side of the Mananga river.
“This is to shorten the travel from Lagtang to the Tabunok parish church without passing the busy part of Tabunok flyover structure”, JVR added.
