Homemade Hair Detox

Published

on

A hair detox is one of the best ways to strip off the built up chemicals and toxins on your scalp naturally. Unlike commercial shampoos that are packed with chemicals and alcohols, a homemade detox concoction is made with natural ingredients. It draws out the toxins and other impurities from your scalp and hair follicles and restores them to a naturally clean state.

HealthMeUp compiled an effective hair detox routine that is guaranteed to leave your hair clean and soft.

Step 1: Cleanse

• Combine 1/2-cup of baking soda and 3 cups of warm water. Due to its exceptional cleaning characteristics, baking soda can be used occasionally to cleanse hair.

• Wet your hair thoroughly.

• Pour the mixture of baking soda and water onto your head and massage it into your scalp and hair.

• Rinse thoroughly.

Step 2: Strengthen

• Now, make a concoction of honey, filtered water, and apple cider vinegar. Here’s the basic ratio, but you can adjust it as desired: 1 tablespoon raw honey, 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, and 3 tablespoons filtered water.

• Honey is naturally antibacterial and antifungal, so it can treat bacterial/fungal issues on the scalp without stripping your hair’s natural oils. It treats dandruff, reduces frizz and moisturizes the hair follicle.

• You can also add a few drops of essential oil like lavender to the mixture. Essential oils add a calming fragrance and nourish a dry scalp.

• Wet your hair and massage the mixture into your scalp and hair, paying special attention to the ends.

• Allow the mixture to sit for a minute or two, and then rinse.

Step 3: Treat

• Make a homemade hot oil mixture to repair damaged hair. Combine ½ cup of olive or coconut oil and 1 tablespoon of conditioner in a bowl. If you have long hair, double the quantity of the ingredients.

• Heat the mixture till its hot.

• Apply to damp hair, paying attention to the damaged ends.

• Cover your hair with a shower cap for 20 minutes.

• Remove the shower cap and rinse your hair thoroughly.
