After PNoy’s Admonition, Binay Attends Cabinet Meeting on Yolanda Rehab
After being chided by the President on Monday, Vice President Jejomar Binay on Wednesday attended a Cabinet meeting on Yolanda rehabilitation efforts, GMA News Online reported.
The Vice president’s attendance in the meeting was confirmed by presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda and Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. in separate text messages.
Binay holds the chairmanship of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC), which is in charge of resettlement efforts in Yolanda-hit areas. Binay showed up in the meeting after President Benigno Aquino III told him that he is free to leave the Cabinet if he thinks the administration is headed towards the wrong direction, report said.
On Monday, Aquino berated the vice president over his criticism against his administration saying Binay is free to leave the Cabinet. Later that day, Binay released a short statement indicating that he will not leave the Cabinet and expressed that he still has high respects for President Aquino.
The vice president also added that he will continue to be a team player.
