State weather agency said they expected the LPA to enter the PAR Friday afternoon, but will not have any immediate effect. PAGASA forecast high chance the LPA could intensify into a cyclone in 48 hours.

PAGASA said they are not discounting at this time the possibility of the LPA becoming a cyclone and affecting Bicol or Central Luzon, adding that another possibility is that the weather system could veer north toward southern Japan.

In its 4 am bulletin Friday, the LPA was estimated at 1,430 km East of Catarman, Northern Samar.

Rain Over Visayas, Mindanao

Meanwhile, PAGASA said the rain over Visayas and Mindanao is due to the trough or extension of the LPA.

PAGASA said the regions of Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Davao and Central Visayas will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms.

PAGASA added that the Northeast Monsoon is affecting Northern Luzon. Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and Ilocos will experience cloudy skies with light rain, adding that in Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, it said.

PAGASA said moderate to strong winds from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

In some parts of the country, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast to northwest with slight to moderate seas.
