Rep. Abellanosa Not Afraid of Carillo’s Bid in South District Post in 2016

Cebu City South District Rep. Rodrigo “Bebot” Abellanosa said he is not afraid if City Councilor Gerardo Carillo will pursue his plans to challenge his reelection bid during the 2016 elections.

“Kini si Konsehal Carillo dili ‘sab ni basta-basta nga kandidato apan very much welcome nato kon modayon siya sa iyang plano pagdagan sa pagka congressman sa south district,” said Abellanosa.

Abellanosa and Carillo are both members of the Bando Osmeña Pundok-Kauswagan (BOPK) since when they were still city councilors until the time that Carillo bolted from their group a few weeks ago and joined the Team Rama.

Mayor Michael Rama announced last week that Carillo is the most probable candidate of Team Rama for congressman of the city’s south district during forthcoming elections. The mayor said Carillo is fit to become a congressman because he is a lawyer and veteran councilor.

Carillo for his part said he already started roaming the barangays in the south district to know the sentiments of the people and if they are willing to support him he is ready to challenge the reelection bid of Abellanosa.

The south district lawmaker claimed that he already know why Carillo had bolted from the BOPK because the latter is no longer eligible for reelection being completed his term as councilor and the BOPK does not have a position to give him.

“Kay dili man maka-accommodate ang BOPK kaniya nga palansaron pagka kongresista mao nga mitapon na lang siya sa Team Rama pamasin nga siya ang mahimong kandidato. Unya nakahibalo pud ta nga si Mayor Rama nanginahanglan ‘sab og numero diha sa konseho, so klaro kaayo nato kun unsay gusto sa usa’g-usa,” Abellanosa said.

There were talks that former city councilor Jose Daluz III, now one of the mayor’s executive assistants, also has the intention of running as south district congressman, although during the last year’s elections he was the Team Rama’s political manager.

Abellanosa has warned Carillo because, according to him, Mayor Rama might only promise him to be the group’s candidate for congressman in the south district, but when the campaign period comes, he will be replaced by somebody who is much more popular.
