Expect Cloudy, Rainy Weather Friday — PAGASA
Manila (PNA) — Cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers will continue to prevail in most parts of the country on Friday due to the two weather disturbances present inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In an interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Meno Mendoza said that as of 4 a.m. the first low pressure area (LPA) was spotted 190 km eest of Iba, Zambales (15.1ºN, 118.2ºE) while the other LPA was estimated at 690 km east of Casiguran, Aurora (16.0ºN 129.0ºE).
According to Mendoza, these weather systems will bring light to moderate rains and thunderstorms in Metro Manila, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan), Bicol Region, Visayas, Northern Mindanao and Caraga.
He added the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.
He said the LPA located in Zambales has slim chance to intensify into tropical depression and it is expected to exit the PAR in the next 24 hours.
He added the other weather disturbance located at Aurora has high chance to intensify into tropical depression since it is still in the sea.
Once the LPA intensifies into a tropical depression inside the country, it will be locally named “Karding”.
PAGASA expects two to three cyclones to visit the country this September.
In its advisory, PAGASA said light to moderate winds blowing from the northeast to northwest will prevail over Luzon and coming from the southwest over Visayas and Mindanao.
The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate.
It added no gale warning was issued as sea travel will be safe for fisherfolk and small seacraft. (PNA) JBP/CLTC/EBP
