Barangay Treasurer Files Plaint Against Cordova Councilor
A suspended barangay treasurer of Barangay Ibabao, Cordova town, reported to the Police Station alleging that Cordova councilor Ximgil Sitoy harassed him and his companion last Sunday night.
The councilor reportedly threw a can of beer at him and his companion, a fellow barangay official.
Junbert Bentulan, who was suspended by Sitoy’s uncle-mayor last June, told the police that while they were about to leave the scene after Councilor Sitoy pushed their table causing it to tumble down, the latter allegedly threw his can of beer at them and hit Poblacion barangay treasurer Ursula Biongcog in the shoulder.
“Molikay na unta ko. Molakaw na padung, giubanan ko sa Poblacion treasurer si Ursula Biongcog. Padung na unta mi molakaw gibato mi niya (Sitoy) og beer in can. Si Biongcog naigo sa abaga, ako nabasa sa beer,” narrated Bentulan.
Bentulan said they were at the disco party in barangay Poblacion after the Dinagat Festival when Sitoy approached him while he was eating. He said at first the councilor was only asking him why he was there and he told him that he wanted to join the celebration like the rest.
Bentulan said Sitoy asked him if he was behind the Facebook account “Madelyn Magsalos Densing” who allegedly posted libelous statements against Cordova mayor Adelino Sitoy and the councilor’s wife Sheramae.
Bentulan said he denied it, saying he had no hands in that account. The real Madelyn Densing and two others had already asked the National Bureau of Investigation to investigate on this account and a few others which reportedly used their names to malign the mayor’s family and friends.
The mayor, on the other hand, had pursued the libel charge against them despite their denial that they don’t own these Facebook accounts.
Densing and Bentulan are supporters of Ibabao barangay captain Chito Bentazal who defeated the councilor’s wife, Sheremae in the last barangay elections.
“After nitubag ko niya, nasuko siya. Napa ang bise mayor sa atobangan, iyang gibusdak ang lamesa. Nabuak ang baso,” said Bentulan of what happened last Sunday night.
He said he, along with Biongcog, had decided to leave in order to avoid any more confrontation, but Sitoy, after sipping his beer from the can, threw it to him but instead hit Biongcog. Bentulan said he is waiting for his lawyer’s advice on his next step after he placed the incident in the police blotter.
In a separate police blotter, last December, Sheremae invited Densing to their house only to be allegedly lambasted in front of her supporters.
Densing told police that Councilor Sitoy struck her with a gun in the face, reportedly because she was openly supporting Bentazal.
