Magnitude 5.3 Quake Jolts Portions of Southern Leyte
Tacloban City (PNA) — The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) here warned of possible aftershocks following a 5.3 magnitude quake that shook portions of Southern Leyte around 7:57 am Friday.
There were no reports of injury nor damage to buildings.
Bobby Cañete of the local Phivolcs station here said that the center of the quake was located four kilometers southwest of the municipality of Hinundayan, Southern Leyte.
It is tectonic in origin and has a depth of around 10 kilometers.
Phivolcs in its website reported that Intensity 6 was felt in Hinundayan and St. Bernard of the said province; Intensity 4 in Tacloban City and Intensity 3 in Palo, Leyte. (PNA) LAP/PGLENA/EGR
