BINISAYA Film Fest 2014’s Call for Backers
The BINISAYA Film Festival, which is held annually in Cebu City, Philippines, continues to promote the best independent films from the Visayan region and its neighboring archipelago. The festival was formally established in 2009 and usually holds the event at the last quarter of the year.
What makes the festival groundbreaking is that it features fresh crop of films that are only made in the Visayan language. And the 2014 festival will continue to break into new ground as it plans to hold a portion of the festival at the historically important Cebuano movie theatre in the heritage downtown area of Cebu City.
The screenings will continue to be free but the cost of the rental is high as are the costs to gain permission to screen the films.
Looking for solutions, this year’s organizers are launching its “CALL FOR BACKERS” campaign. The campaign aims to ask for pledges of P5,000, with the pledgers getting an exclusive not-for-sale BINISAYA Hoodie.
The proceeds will pay for the venue and other expenses for this year’s festival.
